Tooth Extractions

Sometimes, no matter how well you take care of your teeth, a problem may arise with one or more teeth. Dr. Schlueter may recommend you have the tooth removed, or extracted. Dental extractions can be necessary for a variety of reasons including decay, infection, abscess, broken teeth, etc.

A dental extraction can be simple in nature to more complex needing surgical intervention.

Simple Extractions vs. Surgical Extractions

Simple extraction: A simple extraction is when the tooth can be easily removed it with forceps.

Surgical extraction: Teeth that are under the gum and require gum or bone tissue to be removed as well are done in a surgical extraction. Wisdom teeth are an example of a surgical extraction.

Removal of a tooth or teeth may sound painful, but with different types of anesthesia available, there is nothing to worry about.

At Advanced Dentistry of Blue Ash, we’ll do all we can to save your tooth or teeth, but if extraction does become necessary, we have a variety of option to manage any associated pain during and after the procedure.
